Studi Kasus Kapabilitas UMKM Industri Batik dalam Inovasi Desain Produk

Eksistensi perbatikan semenjak berkembang di luar keraton berada pada konteks ekonomi dan budaya. Industri batik sebagian besar pada skala usaha mikro kecil dan menengah (UMKM). Dalam konteks seperti ini, produsen batik harus mampu terus menciptakan produk-produk batik yang sesuai dengan seleran dan kebutuhan konsumen atau pasar yang terus terjadi perubahan ataupun perkembangan. Kemampuan inovasi UMKM menjadi penting untuk menjaga kelangsungan dan mengembangan industri batik sehingga kehidupan batik sebagai warisan budaya dunia bisa terus terjaga. Penelitian ini secara umum bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan UMKM batik dalam melakukan inovasi desain produk batik. Adapun tujuan khusus dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui proses dan strategi inovasi, menjelaskan bentuk inovasi yang dihasilkan, dan mengetuhi dampak inovasi terhadap kehidupan industri batik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dasar dengan metode kualitatif dalam bentuk studi kasus. Studi kasus membahas kemampuan inovasi UMKM Dewi Batik di Kabupaten Boyolali, Jawa Tengah. Proses penelitian diawali dengan membahas proses dan strategi inovasi yang diterapkan, kemudian membahas bentuk inovasi yang telah dilakukan, dan pada bagian akhir mengevaluasi dampak inovasi yang dilakukan. Penelitian ini menghasilkan beberapa temuan, diantaranya strategi inovai, proses inovasi, bentuk inovasi, dan dampak inovasi. Strategi Inovasi desain produk yang dikembangkan adalah: diversifikasi produk, membuat desain sesuai karakter konsumen target pasar, diferensiasi produk, dan optimalisasi karakterisasi produk. Proses inovasi desain produk dilakukan secara kolaboratif dengan desainer melalui lima tahapan proses. Bentuk inovasi produk fokus pada inovasi ragam hias batik. Inovasi desain produk yang dilakukan berdampak signifikan pada perkembangan dan kelangsungan usaha.
