Abstrak

The Indonesian government actively promotes youth entrepreneurship within higher education institutions to reduce graduate unemployment. This study examines the influence of entrepreneurial alertness and risk tolerance on entrepreneurial intention among university students in East Java, Indonesia, while evaluating the moderating role of entrepreneurial knowledge. Employing a quantitative design, empirical data were collected via a structured questionnaire from 203 students and analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Structural evaluation reveals that entrepreneurial alertness exerts a statistically significant positive effect on entrepreneurial intention ( ), whereas risk tolerance demonstrates no significant impact ( ). Entrepreneurial knowledge significantly strengthens the positive relationship between entrepreneurial alertness and entrepreneurial intention ( ); however, it fails to moderate the association between risk tolerance and intention ( ). Overall, the proposed model explains  of the variance in entrepreneurial intention ( ). Theoretically, this research extends Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) by underscoring that cognitive architectures and domain knowledge acquisition predominate over dispositional personality traits in driving entrepreneurial intention.
